Section 1: Measuring Voltage (වෝල්ටීයතාවය මැනීම)

By Definition Voltage is "Electrical Potential difference between two points", so Two Points must be selected/recognize prior to measure. Usually we measure one point's electrical potential considering the second point has a zero ( 0V ) electrical potential. All most all the cases Earth is taking as the second point because Earth's electrical potential is always consider as zero Volts.

වෝල්ටීයතාවය ලෙස හඳුන්වන්නේ "යම් ලක්ෂ්‍යයන් දෙකක් අතර පවතින විභව අන්තරයයි", එබැවින් වෝල්ටීයතාවය මැනීමට ප්‍රථම නිවරදිව අදාළ ලක්ෂ්‍ය දෙක හඳුනාගත යුතුය. සාමාන්‍යයෙන් එක් ලක්ෂ්‍යයක (ලක්ෂ්‍යක් යනු ඔනෑම ස්ථානයකි) වෝල්ටීයතාවය මනිනු ලබන්නේ වෙනත් ලක්ෂ්‍යයකට/ස්ථානයකට සාපේක්ෂව එම ලක්ෂ්‍යයේ/ස්ථානයේ වෝල්ටීයතාවය 0V ලෙස සළකාය. සෑමවිටම වාගේ මෙම දෙවන ලක්ෂ්‍ය ලෙස පෘථිවිය ගනු ලබන අතර පෘථිවියේ වෝල්ටීයතාවය සෑම විටම 0V ලෙස සළකනු ලැබේ.

Voltmeter is the instrument for measuring the voltage. There are two types of Voltmeters exists.
 වෝල්ටීයතාවය/විභව අන්තරය මැනීම සඳහා "වෝල්ට්මීටර" භවිතා කරන අතර වෝල්ට්මීටර වගර්‍ 2ක් පවති.

     1. Analog Voltmeters (ප්‍රතිසම වෝල්ට්මීටර)

     2.  Digital Voltmeters (සංඛ්‍යාංක වෝල්ට්මීටර)

Even it is not shown in the pictures both type have voltmeter connecting method  to measuring point by means of terminals or probes. To measure voltage between two points voltmeter must connect Parallel to the particular points.

ඉහත රූප සටහන් වල පෙන්වා නොතිබුනත් සෑම වෝල්ට්මීටරයකම විදුලි පරිපථයට සම්බන්ධ කිරිමට ටර්මිනල් දෙකක් හෝ සම්බන්ධක කම්බි යුගලක් (probes) පවතී.  වෝල්ටීයතාවය/විභව අන්තරය මැනීම සඳහා වෝල්ට්මීටරය අදාල ලක්ෂ්‍ය දෙකට (උපකරණයට) සමාන්තරගතව සම්බන්ධ කල යුතුය.

Prior to measure voltage of a Point we should identified

1.  Compared to which point we are going to measure the Voltage (usually this is ground which is   always at 0V)
2.  Type of the voltage ( AC or DC). Select correct voltage type on your voltmeter.
3. Maximum possible value of Voltage we going to measure. If voltage range is unknown set Voltmeter range to its maximum or to Auto Range in digital Voltmeters.

වෝල්ට්මීටරයක් භාවිතා කිරීමට පෙර,

1. වෝල්ටීයතාවය මැනීමට අවශ්‍ය ස්ථාන/ලක්ෂ්‍ය දෙක නිවරදිව හඳුනාගන්න. (සාමාන්‍යයෙන් එක් ලක්ෂ්‍යයක් සෑම විටම පෘථිවිය වේ, 0V)
2.  වෝල්ටීයතාවය ACද DCද යන බව
3. මැනුම් ස්ථානයේ පැවතිය හැකි උපරිම විභව අන්තරය (නොදනීනම් වෝල්ට්මීටරය උපරීම පාරාසයට/range එකට සකසන්න)
